  • Cama

A cama is a rare mongrel created by crossbreeding a manly dromedary camel( Camelus dromedarius) with a womanish llama( Lama glama). First successfully bred in 1998 through artificial copulation in Dubai, camas were developed with the end of combining the stylish traits of both species. Camels are large, strong creatures well- acclimated to harsh desert surroundings, while llamas are lower, more amenable, and easier to handle. The stopgap was to produce an beast that could retain the size, strength, and abidance of a camel, along with the calmer disposition and hair product of a llama.

Camas generally have a body size nearly between that of a llama and a camel, and they warrant the camel’s hand hump. They inherit a thick fleece from their llama parent, which makes them more suited for cooler climates compared to camels. They demonstrate the possibilities of crossbreeding different species, but their practical operations remain limited.
